About

Rob Mills, LAc, Dipl Ac, MTCM

Rob Mills has been practicing acupuncture and herbalism since 1998. He is a graduate of Five Branches University of Chinese Medicine in Santa Cruz, California. A native of the San Francisco bay area, Rob moved to Bend, Oregon, in 2001.

Rob has a passion for helping people and a drive to get results. With over 25 years of clinical experience practicing acupuncture and classical East Asian medicine, he has proven himself to be a dedicated, caring, knowledgeable, and effective practitioner.

Rob’s approach is centered on Japanese-style acupuncture, focusing on the Kiiko Matsumoto Style since 2012. This approach emphasizes a palpation-based approach, which provides him with immediate feedback about the success of a treatment while it is being given.

Rob was a teaching and production assistant to Monika Kobylecka (a top protege of Kiiko’s) for 3 years and has over 425 hours of in-person training in this style of acupuncture with hundreds upon hundreds of additional hours in self-guided study. He was one of the first to complete the 150-hour certificate course in 2014.

To put this level of training and commitment into perspective, acupuncturists are required to take 60 hours of continuing education in a 4 year period in order to maintain their license. Rob completed over 28 years of continuing education in KMS alone in 3.5 years. This level of focused and intense training has uniquely positioned him to be able to practice this incredibly effective style like few others.

Rob is also an expert in Classical Chinese herbal medicine and will be completing a 14-month certificate program with Dr. Fruehauf in 2024, with a focus on the prescription of herbal formulas from a classical perspective. Rob also studies the enormous academic resources of classicalchinesemedicine.org, an international community of educators, scholars, and physicians whose goal is to restore and bring forth the power of CCM to treat the chronic, complex, and life-threatening conditions modern people are faced with.

Rob enjoys being a father, cooking, DIY projects, and outdoor pursuits. He is always amazed at how the universal system theories of Chinese medicine apply to every aspect of life and being.

Maddy Chavez, LAc, LMT, MAcOM

I grew up in Ashland, Oregon, where acupuncture and herbal medicine were woven into the fabric of our healthcare system. My journey with acupuncture began in middle school when I picked up a copy of the Tao Te Ching and knew I had found my passion. My love affair with herbs also started young. My dad has the greenest thumb of anyone I have ever met, and gardening with my mom defined my summers growing up.

With over 12 years in the healing arts, I am dedicated to helping our community to thrive, one patient at a time. I am excited to share with you the tools I’ve gained through my ongoing education and clinical experience to help you succeed in life and in health. My goal is to empower you to take charge of your well-being and to learn to listen to your body’s wisdom.

The work we do together doesn’t end when you leave the clinic—healing is an ongoing process, and I encourage you to be an active participant in your health journey.  Every time you come into my office, I invite you to advocate for yourself, ask questions, and engage in the process of reaching your health goals. Let’s work together to create meaningful conversations, build community, and help you rediscover the vibrant health you deserve.
